Benefit for Migrant Justice at Earth Sky Time Farm, Manchester, VT 5/7/17

More about Earth Sky Time Farm here.

From the Facebook event:

“We are thrilled to host Meredith Axelrod and The Brother Brothers at the farm for a night of music, food, and community. This show is a benefit concert to raise money for Migrant Justice, a dairy farmworker organizing project based in Burlington, VT.

Tickets are $10 at the door, and we’ll have a delicious vegetarian dinner with a side of our wood-fired sourdough bread available by donation.

Meredith Axelrod (San Fransisco, CA): Delightfully engaging and unassumingly comic, Meredith Axelrod envisions the limitless potential of early twentieth century music, whether it be Ragtime, Music Hall, Pop Standard, Boogie Woogie, Tin Pan Alley, String band, Jazz, Country, Blues or even Jug Band music, and embodies the spirit that brought the music into existence in the first place. Her vocal style is unusual, probably because she learned to sing by listening to how folks did it a century ago – through the medium of cylinders and 78-rpm records.

The Brother Brothers (Brooklyn, NY): The sibling sound of The Brother Brothers is striking and undeniably captivating. At times leaning towards the darker elements of Appalachian, klezmer, and bluegrass traditions, their songs are laden with near perfect sibling harmonies or unison singing, compelling writing, and imaginative arrangements. The acoustic duo features David on cello and guitar and Adam on the 5-string fiddle. Both with individual storied careers in the americana music scene, the Moss brothers are now finally teaming up to bring their experiences together.

Migrant Justice: Their mission is to build the voice, capacity, and power of the farmworker community and engage community partners to organize for economic justice and human rights. They are gearing up to relaunch their Milk With Dignity Campaign, which calls upon Ben and Jerry’s to take responsibility for farmworker rights abuses in their supply chains.
