Routine – And Other Things EP

I’m late to the dream-team-train, which figures. Another release that I really had to dig for before it made its way to my peripheral surface.

This group is the ulti-mix of Indie Bands That Don’t Suck And Yes I’m Talking About Porches And Frankie Cosmos And Snail Mail and I’m so thankful and grateful when little gems like this pop up.

This release is pretty simple, but that’s not a bad thing. Just a room full of people who understand music and enjoy making it, which is envious, really, and obvious when listening. I love the slight genre-hopping that happens from the first track to the rest of the album, which kind of reminds me why I liked Girlpool’s What Chaos Is Imaginary so much.

And Other Things is one of those albums that will be on repeat as I’m walking around the city, and it adequately settles the “why do I still live here?” as well as the “what the hell is going on in this world” voices. I can’t say it’s on my Top Albums List of 2020 (that’s only because that list is filled up with Grindcore and Death Metal), but it’s good enough to have its own playlist, which is good enough for me.
